Privacy policy

We at CEWE Stiftung & Co. KGaA (with headquarters in Oldenburg, Germany; referred to as "CEWE" from this point on) are delighted that you are visiting our web pages and that you are interested in our CEWE photo competition.

CEWE respects your privacy. All the data we collect are used to improve our products and services. CEWE places a lot of value on data protection and data security for customers and users. This means that we are highly invested in protecting your personal data throughout all of our business processes.

In accordance with Art. 13 EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), this privacy policy provides you with information about what data we at CEWE collect when you visit our web pages and participate in our photo competition and how these data are used. The policy does not apply, however, to web pages for other companies that contain links to our pages or that our web pages contain links to.

1. Acquisition and processing of personal data

When you visit our web pages, our web servers temporarily save access data by default. This consists of the IP address of your access, the session ID for identifying your connection session and the date and time of the visit. These data are deleted after use is ceased as per the legal stipulations. Furthermore, personal data are saved only in the event that you provide us with said data voluntarily, e.g. when registering for our photo competition, when submitting your photos to a photo competition or as part of a survey. The specific entry and contact forms that you fill in provide you with information about the purpose of the data collection.

2. Transferring data over the Internet

Sensitive data, such as log-in information, passwords or address data, are always transferred using encrypted connections (HTTPS / SSL) and saved on secure servers.

3. Note on data transmission in non-EU countries

We are supported by service providers outside of the area of validity of the EU GDPR in a timely manner to ensure that our customer service team is highly accessible. We have concluded contracts with standard EU contract clauses with the service providers and regularly check that all aspects of our stringent data protection requirements are being met.

4. Using and sharing personal data and purpose specification

We use the data that you disclose to us in conducting the CEWE photo competition. Your data are used in accordance with the relevant valid legal regulations on data protection and only for the specific purpose for which the data were collected as well as to protect justified proprietary business interests, in particular technical administration of the web sites. We will not use these data for product-related surveys or marketing purposes unless we have received prior consent from you. You may revoke any consent you have granted at any time and with future effect.

In this context, CEWE commissions other companies and individual persons to complete partial assignments. These service providers have access to personal information that are required for completing their tasks. They must not use this information for any other purposes whatsoever. We have obligated our service providers to handle the information in accordance with the relevant data protection laws and our privacy statements.

Personal data are transferred to government offices only to the extent absolutely required by legal provisions. Your data will not be disclosed to private third parties without your express consent.

We obligate our employees to maintain confidentiality and to adhere to the authoritative data protection regulations.

When you subscribe to the newsletter, your e-mail address is used for in-house promotional purposes until you unsubscribe from the newsletter. We use the information that is required here or that is provided separately by you to send you our e-mail newsletter on a regular basis. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by clicking on the link provided in the newsletter.

According to the applicable data protection regulations, you have a right to receive information about your stored data at no cost as well as a right to have this data corrected, locked or deleted as necessary.

5. Use of cookies

In an effort to make our web pages more attractive and to make it easier to use certain functions, we use something called "cookies" on various pages. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your end device. Some of the cookies used by us are deleted once the browser session is terminated (i.e. when you close your browser). These are called "session cookies." Other cookies called "persistent cookies" remain on your end device and enable us and our partner companies to recognise your browser the next time you visit our pages.

Processing is conducted in accordance with Art. 6 Paragraph 1 lit. f EU GDPR. You can configure your browser so that you are notified when cookies are set. You can also disable the use of cookies for general browser usage or for specific cases. Disabling the use of cookies may limit the function of the web pages.

6. Collecting anonymous user data

Adobe Systems Inc. (http://adobe.com) uses web analysis technologies to collect and save data on our websites for marketing and optimisation purposes. This data is used to create usage profiles that are given pseudonyms. These usage profiles make it possible to analyse visitor behaviour and are evaluated in order to improve our products and services and fine-tune them to customer needs. Cookies help in achieving this. They are small text files saved locally on the computer of the person visiting the page, allowing us to recognise the user the next time he/she visits our web pages.

The pseudonymised user profiles are not matched to personal data about the carrier of the pseudonym without express permission of the person in question. This permission has to be granted on a separate basis.

You can object to data collection and storage for web analysis purposes at any time by clicking the following link: Deactivating Adobe Analytics

7. Security measures

Our security measures are continually being upgraded to keep up with technological development.
